One Day Trip In Singapore/Jalan-Jalan di Singapura #3

Good Morning. This is the last of my one day trip around Singapore stories. You can read Jalan-Jalan di Singapura #1 and Jalan-Jalan di Singapura #2 to read the whole post. After take same photos with Singapore Flyer as the background, we move to another direction, which Merlion statue looks clearly. It means we already arrived at Merlion Park, the most famous place to vist if you come to Singapore, very popular Singapore Icon. I took many picture in this well-known tourist spot.
Merlion is a mythical creature with the head of lion and the body of a fish, used as mascot of Singapore. Singa means Lion in Javanese. So proud for me as a Japanese that my language used by a famous modern country like Singapore. :D

The symbol was designed by Fraser Brunner, a member of Souvenir Committee and curator of the Van Kleef Aquarium, for the logo of Singapore Tourism Board in use from 26 March 1964 to 1997. In 1972 Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew officiated the installation ceremony of the Merlion. The original one used to stand at the mouth of Singapore River, at the top of the current The Fullerton Waterboat House Garden with Anderson Bridge as its background. The Merlion is a male. (source:wikipedia).
Other well known tourist spot near Merlion Park is Anderson Bridge. I passed the bridge an walking around Raffles Park. I met some Indonesian people that I met earlier at Universal Studios Singapore yesterday. What a small country, a beautiful one thought. We talked for a while to say hi, its a pleasure to meet very kind and firendly Indonesian in foreign country.
Raffles Park is clean and a little bit cooler like anothe place, I tried Uncle Ice Cream there, the famous ice cream that we can buy only 1 SGD. Its yummy :)

There were historical statue near the river, so I took some photos there. The statue consist of three men that talking. It was very unique, one of them use western style of clothing, one used Chinese style and the other in Malay style. The statue pictured a great culture combination that builds Singapore becoming a modern country with their various traditional cultures.
From the statue I walked to the left, my destination was the MRT station. I was heading to ORCHARD ROAD by MRT. Orchard is onother must visit place while in Singapore. There are many shopping malls there. But we can buy many souvenirs with less cost at Lucky Plaza.

We walked around orchard road, windows shopping in all of the malls there that we could reach, hahaa. I took longer time in ION Orchard and in Lucky Plaza. I bought 4 package of keychain  (6pcs per pack) only 10 SGD and 5 Singapore Bag only 10 SGD. My Mom and her friends fell in love with that bag. I gave the keychain for my office friends :)

Satisfied with the souvenirs, I went back to Little India, took my backpack at Fernloft Hostel Little India and went to airport for my fligt to Phuket. That's the whole story of my one day trip around Singapore in 2011.

That my first and last time visited Singapore Budget Terminal because it was not exist anymore now, was it?

Have nice day people, see u in another post ;)
